Module #8

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.
"More Human Than Human" was a requirement to watch. I chose to watch "The Greek Awakening: Art From The 5th Century BC" specifically because of the name. I always choose to watch a movie or book when the name interest me.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The key concept that I have learned from watching "More Human Than Human" would be realizing human bodies were not created as the real human bodies in art but made up statues and discovering what may have went through the brain of artist back in time when it started.

The key concepts that I have learned from watching "The Greek Awakening: Art From The 5th Century BC" would be that Greek has given us more then we think. For example our history and our sense of thought..along with much more. And also, understanding their sculptures and buildings.

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos relate to the readings in the text because the readings discuss in the chapters the break down of what goes on in the topics discussed and both of the videos do the same.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
My opinion of the films would be that they both made me realize more by being able to watch rather then just read. It gave me the opportunity to witness what the book is showing us in the pictures and in the text but the videos are allowing us to have a better understanding by going step by step to add depth to our knowledge.

Module #7

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
They key concepts that I have learned watching "Architecture: The Science of Design" would be the winds effects on tall buildings. Learning about "A smart apartment" was very interesting. and also understanding how concrete can be made for the buildings.
The key concepts that I have learned watching "Last Call for Planet Earth: Sustainable Development and Architecture" would be the problem of climate change and taking steps to figuring out what may be the best decisions to save our planet. Making sure whats in the air is safe.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
Both videos relate to the readings in the text because they both discuss why it is important for buildings to be built secure. And also, talk deeply about the importance of construction from then and now.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?
My opinion on both films would be that they both add depth to understanding Architecture by breaking down what is most important about it and not only allowing us to read about it but watch steps on it in the films so we can see it for ourselves.
4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?
I chose "Architecture: The Science of Design" and "Last Call for Planet Earth: Development and Architecture" because the titles sounded interesting to me and caught my attention.

1. Hyperlink the Blogs you reviewed into your Blog
2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images?
Yes I did agree. Each artist had neat pictures with a meaning behind it that made the images more interesting. I did see other elements and principles in some images which made it cool because they could have used the image for a different term as well.
3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own?
When looking at both of my peer blogs I did not find any images the same as the ones I captured for my project.
4. Where there any images that your Peers selected that pique your interest now? If yes, what are they and what is your connection with them? What would you want to know about them?
Looking at my first peers blog the image that stood out to me now was " Charles Webster Hawthorne. The Family, 1911. Oil on panel" this particular piece showed a family that was taking a portrait but looked distance in the portrait which made it interesting and allow a ton of questions to wander through my head. The connection I would have with this piece would be my past and knowing it is not always a happy home. I would want to know more about the family and what was going on for them to look as distant as they looked in the photo.
Looking at my second peers blog the image that stood out to me now was  "Soleil, tour, aĆ©roplane. Robert Delaunay, Oil on Canvas, 1913." this piece showed a mixture of colors that made it look like a cluter but a beautiful one. I did not have much of a connection with this piece but I would want to know what intrigued the artist to used the colors they did.

5. What do you think about  the process of reading your peers reflection? Do you find this to be a valuable in your learning?
The process of reading my peers reflections was amazing. I really liked looking at what other students had to show, after doing the projects. Yes, I find this to be valuable and more understanding of the work.

6. Check your Blog and read comments posted by your Peers. Do you find their comments helpful?
Yes, I found their comments and motivating!
1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
A couple key concepts learned in watching the video "Through the Eyes of the Sculptor" was understanding sculpture work can take quite some time to get done. It requires patience. Checking to see if a sculptor block is good before they start carving it is important, before it is started it is a square. You tap on it with a tool and listen for the sound and make sure you do not hear an odd sound which would echo through and let you know their is a crack and it is no good.. He works on more then one piece at a time to keep his ideas fresh. Each sculptor is created carefully making sure it will stable enough to hold up. Also, searching for marble also can require a lot of patience to find the perfect piece. It is interesting. I absolutely love marble! It is broken down that sculptures are created with clay, dies in plaster, and is reborn in marble.
Key concepts learned in watching the video "Glass and Ceramics" was realizing glass is everywhere. Glass is made from sand, but its properties are much different from sand. Ceramics are made with a clay base. Heated at high temperature they both can break but it also can give both pieces its hardness. Today glass windows have expanded and been made to many number of needs which gives us every reason to feel more safe, provides us to be able to not hear much, windows not get shattered or etc. Glass is slowly replacing stone.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos relate to the readings simply because the readings go into quite some detail and break down each craft discussed in the videos as well. It was nice to see the steps but it also was nice to see a ton of work by looking at all of the pictures that was on side of the readings.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?
My opinion of the films would be that they add depth to understanding sculpture, installation, and craft by showing us steps and providing detailed information from the eye of artist to help us better understand the process of creating art work. It requires a ton of brainstorming, sketching, and picturing work before any craft is created.

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo.
Creating my logo was interesting, it allowed me to really think about what about myself do I absolutely love, or love doing to best explain my interest to other people the best way possible and what truly represents me as a person. I wanted to make sure people viewing it will understand my creation without having to think too hard of my what my logo means.
2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation.
My creative thinking skills were focusing on what I truly love most, and that would be fashion. So after using that as my starting point, I was inspired by a Coco Chanel quote that I have always adored! "Everyday is a fashion show and the world is the runway." It helped push my ideas in the right direction because I love getting dolled up, traveling the world, and I decided to add a crown because I often have a feeling that I am a powerful queen and can conquer the world. :)
3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo?
The most important discovery I have learned while creating my logo was understanding that fashion truly defines me the best.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos, powerpoint, and reading material for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
The most important information I have learned from the resources were noticing how important technology is for creating a logo.
