1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Aesthetics: Philosophy of the Arts, Based of the clip I have learned the concepts of philosophers and how they find beauty in art by adding their own taste to it, such as their interest and knowledge in art.
Carta: Evolutionary Origins of Art and Aesthetics, Based on the clip from Changeux I have learned the concepts of the beauty of the human brain throughout the years.
Carta: Evolutionary Origins of Art and Aesthetics, Based on the clip from Rakmachandran I have learned the focus of key concepts of visual arts.
Based off of the article "What the brain draws from: Art and Neuroscience" I have learned the concepts of why we like art. What we see, think, how we feel about art.
2. Which philosopher's theroy on aesthetics do you feel is most important? Be sure to mention the philosphers name, era (time in history), and contribution to the aesthetic theory in your response.
I felt the most important philospher's theory was Ludwig Wittgenstein. The time in history was the 20th century. He stated "Do you think I have a theory?" "Do you think I am saying what this is and what that is?" "I describe, I give examples you have to describe ways of living in order to be clear about the aesthetic principle". He made it clear in the clip that he put more then just thought into his art.
3. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture?
I was extremely interested in Changeux scientific view of aesthetics and art because he spoke about art being beautiful but through the expansion of the human brain. I thought that was a great break down to understand the beauty in art. The most interesting fact that I have discovered from Changeux was "Empathy for suffering" the IMRI.
Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art was interesting to focus on him discussing how the human brain meets and discovering if their is a science in art, and also images of visual art. The most interesting fact that I have discovered from Ramachandran was the "Peak shift principle" and in his personal life it was interesting when he mentioned that he was not that interested in art a couple years ago, until he took and course and went to a temple and became more interested in some works of art, so he started looking into the history of art.
I always say I hope one day I will learn how to fall more in love with the history of art like art lovers today.
